The Dutch Mountain Film Festival presents work by Agata Siwek. She grew up in the shadow of the Tatra mountains.

Travelling in other European mountain regions, she discovered viaducts, hotels, monuments, huts and hydropower plants, which she recorded in drawings. A selection of those drawings can be seen in HUB.Kerkrade.

Siwek also took a series of photographs of Dutch mountains especially for the expo. Agata Siwek (born 1972) is a visual artist trained in Krakow, Glasgow and Amsterdam.

She is very versatile, interested in almost everything and sensitive to social and political issues that affect her life.

At the opening on Friday 1 November at 7pm, Egid van Houtem, director of the Kerkrade library, will talk to Agata Siwek and Max Hermens about mountains, long-distance walking and disappearing into the landscape.

Max Hermens will also read from his books The Disappearing of Ferdi Heijen and StauSeeSteig - An Exercise in Disappearing.
